A photo from 1969, when Sri Swamiji organised Panchagni Homam for Sri Ramana Baba at Hatakeswara Ashram.
Photo of the week
Updated: Apr 6, 2020
The Baba hall is a place defined by its serenity, much like the rest of the Ashram. It has a long outer corridor with Swamiji's chair on one end, right below the portrait of Nityananda Bhagawan. On the inside, the hall is dimply lit by deepams, yet radiant. The added radiance during the morning harathi with the light reflecting on Baba's photo is a delight to watch. Baba's photo has him sitting in his poise stature and his keen eyes are hard to miss, which were painted by Swamiji himself.
His eyes seem to follow us through the hall. No matter where we sir, we can feel Him looking at us. Below baba's photo is the Bhuvaneswari yantram, engraved by Swamiji in 1971 at Pochampadu. Right before the Yantram are Baba's Padukas which Swamiji himself brought from Kalavai(Baba's native village). Guru pooja is performed everyday to the Padukas. Baba hall is a place to meditate or do japam. During 'Asweeja Shuddha Navaratris', every year Navakanyas perform Chandi pooja in the Baba hall observing strict deeksha. An unsaid silence and devotion invokes in everyone after entering the Baba hall.
